Falling Leaves by Ashton Reddick

Ages: 4-6

Materials Needed:

Red Paint

Yellow Paint

Green Paint

Brown Paint

Orange Paint

White Construction Paper

Paint Brush

Plates (for paint)

1. Put brown, yellow, orange, and red paint on seperate plates. (Here, I used powder paint but any paint will work)

2. Go ahead and paint the green grass on their papers so it will dry.

3. Allow time for painted grass to dry.

4. Paint the child's forearm. (For older children, you could let them paint a friend or their own forearm!)

5. Have the child spread their fingers and place their hand and forearm down on the construction paper.

6. Now instruct the children to use their fingers to paint different color leaves falling from the branches,

7. VOILA! Complete :)

<3 All of my students really enjoyed this project and their parents love anything that has to do with their hand or footprints, so I knew that they would enjoy it!

Geometric Haunted House

SUPPLIES

Construction Paper – assorted sizes

Scissors

Glue Sticks or Bottles

Glitter

Markers

Haunted House Cutouts

    

 

PROCEDURES

·         Pass out the supplies to each student.

·         Go over the various geometric shapes that make up the Haunted House cutouts.

·         Next have the students recite back to you the names of the shapes to show that they were paying attention and learning the geometric shapes.

·         Now have the students cut out the Haunted House cutouts.

·         Next have the students select the Halloween colors from their pile of construction paper.

·         Tell the students to use a piece of black or purple construction paper for the background and a piece of the green construction paper to make the ground.

·         The piece of ground is optional.

·         Now the students should cut the green construction paper to create their ground and glue it on the bottom of the black construction paper.

·         Now the students should use the cutouts and trace the shapes on the construction paper they chose for their Haunted House’s colors.

·         Next the students should cut out the traced shapes.

·         Now have the students glue the pieces of the Haunted House together on the ground to make their picture.

·         Finally let the students decorate their picture with witches, ghosts, a moon, trees, and gravestones if they choose to.

·         The students can use the glitter on their moon to make it shine.

·         At the very end, go over the geometric shapes again to reinforce them for the students.
